Submitted by Ann Averill on Thu, 09/01/2011 - 8:33pm

Hi everyone,

Annie here.  I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything but now I have news.  I have been teaching acrylic painting at Michaels arts and crafts in Florence, Ky.  Oh what fun I have had.  I am painting three or four times a week there at Michaels.  The subject matter is given to me in lesson plans Grumbacher has supplied me, since their the one sponsoring the classes.  Thank you Grumbacher.  Their paints are very nice and their brushes are even better.

Sometimes photographing art can be a challenge.  I photograph every piece so I can provide prints for clients and  they must be high quality to represent  a true representation of an oil painting .  In a perfect world a copy stand would be used but not investing in this has only forced us to be a better photographers.  There are many circumstances to contend with on any gived day.

Finished

Submitted by Ann Averill on Fri, 04/01/2011 - 5:47pm

I started a painting several months ago and never finished it.  I wasn't sure what it needed but after being inspired to look out into the world I saw black in everything, and a complete grey scale in all the colors.  That's what it needed.  I was anxious to get back at it and so I did, and in a couple of days I was able to add more color with lots of value.  Deep black to rich white added to color made it all pop.  It's signed and finished now.  I don't know why I didn't see what it needed sooner, all my other paintings have the richness of value, now this one
