Warm Welcome

Submitted by Patricia Hendy ... on Mon, 11/28/2011 - 4:24pm

We joined the "family" at the Midwest Art Center earlier this month by renting a studio space on the lower level to create our soft-sculptured "works of art", namely, the Dingies™.  We were so impressed and delighted by the talent within the walls of the old church that is now the home to the Center.  Beyond the beautiful works of art that line the walls, are the artists themselves--friendly, creative and approachable.  Treat yourself at the next Open House held on the last Saturday of each month.

Thanks to all that attended our Open House during the Christmas Walk!

Submitted by DBack77223 on Sun, 11/27/2011 - 1:09pm

It was great to see some new faces at the Midwest Art Center (MAC) during the Christmas Walk open house. On Saturday evening we had nearly all the MAC artists in attendance it was an enjoyable evening. I completed the pen & ink drawing on my Buffalo war club during the show. Annie got a great start on an oil painting that she has seen in a vision and been anxious to get on canvas.

My artwork has been accepted at Xanadu Gallery!

Submitted by DBack77223 on Tue, 11/15/2011 - 7:50pm

Exciting news....I've been following the Xanadu Gallery for some time, they are committed to partnering with artists and helping them.  Jason and Carrie Horejs the husband and wife team that own the gallery are themselves artists so they understand what it takes to promote yourself and still have time to be creative.

Most Recent Consignment

Submitted by DBack77223 on Mon, 10/17/2011 - 8:11pm

One of my son's friends (Josh) recently consigned me to add custom pen and ink drawing on the "English skull mount" of his prize 8 point buck. I took on the challenge and was amazed at how many birds this items pulled from my pen. The buffalo and encampment just seemed natural. Josh was happy with the results and is displaying this work prominently in his family room.

More New artwork....

Submitted by DBack77223 on Sun, 09/04/2011 - 9:52am

With the Summer quarter winding up I'm looking forward to doing some new artwork in preparation for this I made a purchase at Clearcreek trading post. One of the items I purchased was a buffalo jawbone, while at the studio for last months' "final Saturday show" I was able to get over half the bone covered with "pen & ink" my plan is to do both sides since this piece seems to resemble a "war club" that is the direction I'm going in with it.

Now Teaching

Submitted by Ann Averill on Thu, 09/01/2011 - 7:33pm

Hi everyone,

Annie here.  I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything but now I have news.  I have been teaching acrylic painting at Michaels arts and crafts in Florence, Ky.  Oh what fun I have had.  I am painting three or four times a week there at Michaels.  The subject matter is given to me in lesson plans Grumbacher has supplied me, since their the one sponsoring the classes.  Thank you Grumbacher.  Their paints are very nice and their brushes are even better.

Last Weeks "Child Wellness" Charity Auction

Submitted by DBack77223 on Thu, 07/28/2011 - 5:08pm

Annie & I took some of our work to an auction at the Whitewater Township Senior Center last Wednesday the turnout was marginal, with the high tempratures in the 100 degree range might have kept some folks at home. We met some new people and got some of our product out in public and added to our contact list. We raised some money for Child Wellness in the process! These events are held once a month at the center on the third Wednesday doors open at 6:00 P.M. and auction begins at 7:00. If your free join in its a great time.
